The idea was to let the body be the story, and the jewellery tell it. Usually it runs the other way: the piece is the subject, the body the stand it sits on.
The reference was illustration. In a book, a body is drawn and adorned to say something about the figure. Here the body comes first, quiet and everyday. The jewellery works like a pencil or a photograph, a way of illustrating what was already there.
The pieces are shot small and close against real skin. A line of chain across a back, a drop along a jaw, the freckles left in. The jewellery isn't the subject. It's the instrument.
