The Visionary's Tarot was built by seventy-eight artists for CLBHUIS Amsterdam, one card, one hand, one medium each, drawn from every discipline and made to give emerging artists a platform and a show of their own.
The direction started from a single question: what does it look like when art is held, rather than hung? Three short films and photo series trace the making, clay wedged and pressed, charcoal scattered and drawn, each card returned to the material that formed it. A still life series then sets the deck across five environments, among objects every surface, prop and frame was chosen to make one case: that each card is a work of art
Each card was treated as its own composition, with the artwork setting the terms. Some sets were built from the material the work was made of, some staged the process of making it, some used the photograph to mirror the emotion in the piece. The coherence isn't in one aesthetic. It's in the method.
